EAST Beijing Welcomes the New Year with the Launch of the “Lucky & Love”Art Exhibition

On December 27, EAST Beijing, in collaboration with its art project partner ucvibes and renowned China Chic artist YY, successfully hosted the opening of the “Lucky & Loved” art exhibition. Centred around the themes of Guan Yu and the Zodiac Snake, the exhibition blends traditional Chinese culture with modern artistry. Spanning the hotel lobby and FEAST (Food by EAST) restaurant, the highlight of the show is the 9-metre-long “Lucky Snake 88” light installation in the lobby, whose playful design adds a festive cheer to the New Year celebrations.

This vibrant exhibition is a must-see this New Year, bringing art, tradition, and luck together to celebrate the start of 2025 in style.

Artist Talk Vol. 3: In Conversation with Artist Shizhi x Hand-painted Woodcarving Workshop
On November 9th, EAST Beijing, in partnership with .ucvibes , successfully held the third Artist Talk and Creative Workshop at EAST Beijing. We were absolutely thrilled to have the independent artist, Shizhi, with us to share her creative insights and the story of her artistic journey.
Shizhi’s works draw inspiration from the glimmering fragments of life, documenting those heart-stirring people, things, and moments with the aim of inspiring people to cherish the here and now and savor every moment. Her creations capture the small joys of life through gentle hues and a unique perspective, radiating a heartwarming power. Shizhi firmly believes that an artist must first move themselves before they can hope to touch the hearts of others.
Shizhi has been immersed in the world of creation for a decade. The artworks and woodcarvings on display in the lobby of EAST Beijing serve as a retrospective of her ten-year artistic journey. We have witnessed her evolution from a budding artist fixated on technique to a more free-spirited and open-minded creator. What remains unwavering is her profound respect for art, her passion for painting, and her inquisitive exploration of different lifestyles.
Just as Shizhi has grown and developed over the years, EAST Beijing, after twelve years, has also completed its brand rejuvenation this year. In the brand‘s renewal journey, EAST has created a utopia for the alternative thinkers, searching for better ways to think, play, work, rest, and live together. On October 26th, EAST Beijing teamed up with YYDS Culture & Art to unveil a compelling lecture, ”Grotto Art in the Northern Dynasties,“ right here at Domain. We were thrilled to host historian D**g, a Nankai University alum, whose deep dive into grotto site research and engaging lecture style took us on a vivid journey through ethnic integration, Buddhist evolution, royal grottoes, and Sinicization. Her talk was a masterclass in insight, painting a picture of the Northern Dynasties’ grandeur and the Central Plains‘ grotto art splendor. Like our guests, EAST Beijing is always seeking better ways to live, work, dine and play. Through a variety of activities, we look forward to creating a space for alternative thinkers to gather, connect and collectively envision new possibilities. Last week, EAST Beijing collaborated with Bowl Yoga to host an innovative event that blended traditional Chinese wellness practices into a modern fitness experience. We brought together the essence of four classic Chinese arts: Tai Chi, Baduanjin, Wuqinxi, and Yijinjing. Guided by expert instructors, participants immersed themselves in the rhythm of the universe, aligning their breath with fluid movements to cultivate their life energy and achieve a state of mental and physical harmony.
As autumn deepens in Beijing, this calming and profound approach to wellness provided a perfect way to unwind and prepare for the seasonal transition, embracing the change with a refreshed mind and body.

Last Saturday, we teamed up with .ucvibes to host an inspiring Artist Talk with contemporary artist Yan Zeming. 🎨 He shared how he reimagines traditional landscapes, blending fresh ideas with deep connections to home and humanity.

Yan didn’t just talk—he demonstrated how creativity meets sustainability by transforming old newspapers into unique sculpture art piece. ♻ It was a powerful reminder that art can turn the ordinary into something extraordinary.
